Experiments Using Liquid Clay Transfer!

Last night I could hardly wait to try my hand at image transfers. TurkishDelites and I had our first attempt completely fail, so in turn, I scoured the internet for information and techniques about this particular method of image transfers.
Liquid clay transfers can be used on transfer paper, toner prints, photocopied images, crayon and colored pencil drawings, as well as magazine and newspapers. This can provide a whole new medium of creativity. It can just be tricky to get it to work. Not everyone can afford laser printers, and the color laser printers are expensive. You could always color in black and white laser prints with colored pencils, but that does not cover other finer detail projects. Complete color photos do not always work by being printed in greyscale and then colored. Transfer paper is easy, but can be expensive, and if you are trying to cut costs, this will only increase the amount you have to spend on your pieces. Newspapers and magazines are great, because most households have stacks of old newspapers and magazines waiting to be cut into art.
My experiment last night was a picture of a round waffle from a Pam ad, and two heart-shaped strawberries from a veggie sausage ad. I plan to make a magnet out of the pieces. Mounting them will be an additional experiment with working with the liquid clay transfers. The actual pieces that I finished with are transparent. So whatever background you mount them on will show through. If I wanted to make my waffle have a printed background, but not show through I would probably paint the back of the transfer white. These are all things to experiment with.
Today I tried ink jet transfers on normal printer paper. The black cartridge one turned out, but my color picture did not, so I am working on getting that to work and will post a picture later!
